Frequently Asked Questions

When do I add Bluette Laundry Bluing to my wash?

Bluette should be added at the start of the filling cycle to be diluted before clothes are added.

Do I use detergent with Bluette Laundry Bluing?

Yes. Bluette is a whitening additive and detergent still needs to be used so clothes are properly cleaned.

Can I use bleach with Bluette Laundry Bluing?

No. By using a bleach product with Bluette, the “bluing” color will be locked in.

Is Bluette Laundry Bluing still effective with a front-loading or high efficiency machine?

Yes, you can use Bluette in a High Efficiency washer. Because HE washers use 40-60% less water, we suggest using 3/4 of the amount of Bluette. Always make sure to pre-dilute as stated on the bottle for the best dispersion of the bluing. If the additive port is unlocked during the wash, the diluted Bluette can be added then or, if using a machine with a locking port, fill the largest reservoir with as much diluted Bluette as will fit. Due to the variability between machines, other adjustments may need to be made with a trial and error process.

How do I remove the blue tint from my clothes?

Use “lemon concentrate” diluted in water and rewash to remove blue shade. There is no magic formula for concentrate vs. water but be aggressive with the lemon portion.
DO NOT USE BLEACH: this will permanently set the blue dye into the material.
